Momentum Builds for Music Modernization Act In Senate – Act Now

Earlier this year, the House of Representatives voted unanimously 415-0 to pass the Music Modernization Act (H.R. 5447) and fix antiquated music copyright laws. The Senate must now follow suit. As yet, the MMA has gained a total to 46 supporters, still short of the necessary support of 51 senators. Tell your Senators that you support the Music Modernization Act – and urge them to do so too – by following this link created by the Recording Academy.

Although the comprehensive copyright bill technically has until the Congressional term concludes at the end of the year to pass, insiders say that, ideally, the legislation would be buttoned up by Oct. 12, before the House of Representatives adjourns in advance of the Nov. 6 midterm elections. The reason is that after early October, Senators are likely to shift their attention almost entirely to midterm elections.
