On April 25th, the House of Representatives voted unanimously 415-0 to pass the Music Modernization Act (H.R. 5447) and fix outdated music laws so that all music creators are paid fairly. Now the Senate must follow suit. Tell your Senators that you support the Music Modernization Act by following this link created by the Recording Academy.

The Music Modernization Act is a bipartisan effort that proposes a significant update to music copyright law. The legislation is designed to reform the way songwriters are paid in the digital age, in particular how mechanical and performance royalties are calculated. The MMA will create an entity – funded by the digital music companies such as Spotify, Apple, Pandora, Amazon Music – that will properly pay and distribute mechanical royalties for interactive streaming.
