Carmen Rizzo is a two-time Grammy nominated producer, mixer, remixer, composer and recording artist known for his work with an eclectic array of artists including Seal, Coldplay, Paul Oakenfold, AR Rahman, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Pete Townshend, Huun Huur Tu, and Niyaz to name a few. His film composer credits include composing original music for Oscar winning director Michael Apted and Emmy winning director Stanley Brooks, as well as writing the end title for Sony Play Station’s Uncharted 2. A long time Recording Academy member, Carmen has served as a Trustee and Governor and wrote the category Best Electronic Album, and the Technical Grammys for Apple and Roger Linn (inventor of the drum machine). Rizzo has also lectured extensively and held Master Classes all over the world including his own TED X talk in the US. Carmen operates his own record label Electrofone Music, home to his own solo and collaborative music projects but also releases from Meriem Ben Amor, Valravn, Inbar Bakal and Huun Huur Tu among others.

BIOGRAPHY

Carmen Rizzo is a two-time Grammy and Juno-nominated artist, producer, mixer, and electronic musician celebrated for his groundbreaking work at the intersection of Electronic and World Music. Renowned for his rich sonic palette and innovative approach to production, he has contributed to albums by iconic artists including Seal, Coldplay, Michael Jackson, Alanis Morissette, Ryuichi Sakamoto, Paul Oakenfold, A.R. Rahman, Pete Townshend, and Dhani Harrison, and has collaborated with legendary producers such as Trevor Horn, Rob Cavallo, and David Foster.

As an artist, Carmen releases music under his own name and through numerous collaborations, touring extensively around the world. His work includes projects with Dhani Harrison, Huun Huur Tu, and his North African–Arab project Didon, which earned him a Juno nomination for Best Global Album. Recent projects include recording with the New Bulgarian Voices ensemble and an experimental church-organ collaboration with Czech composer and organist Katta. His side projects—Niyaz (which he co-founded) and Libella—continue to expand his global creative footprint.

As a composer, he has scored films for Oscar-winning directors Michael Apted and Stanley Brooks, and wrote the end-title theme for Sony PlayStation’s acclaimed video game Uncharted 2.

A long-standing voting member of the Recording Academy, Carmen has served multiple terms as both Trustee and Governor. He co-wrote the Grammy category “Best Electronic Album” and contributed to two Technical Grammy Awards honoring Apple and drum-machine pioneer Roger Linn.

Beyond his musical work, Carmen is a sought-after public speaker, having delivered two TEDx talks and led masterclasses worldwide. He is the founder of Electrofone Music, a label dedicated to nurturing innovative global artists. Drawing from his extensive background in music technology, he also led Artist Relations for Native Instruments in North America, further bridging creativity, production, and technological innovation.
