Sitek began as a musician in Columbia, Maryland before starting indie-rock band TV On The Radio with Tunde Adebimpe in 2001. The band has since released six albums to critical acclaim, most recently 2014’s Seeds (Harvest). In April 2008, Sitek was named number one on NME’s Future 50 list of the most-forward thinking people in music. After initially making a name for himself as an artist, Sitek quickly established a parallel career as a sought after record producer, producing albums including Holly Miranda’s The Magician’s Private Library (XL), Yeah Yeah Yeah’s It’s Blitz (Interscope), Kelis’ Food (Ninja Tune), and Beady Eye’s Be (Columbia).
In 2019, Sitek won a Grammy Award for Best Urban Contemporary Album for his work with Beyoncé & Jay-Z (The Carters) on their debut album. Sitek produced and co-wrote the closing track “Lovehappy” from Everything Is Love (Roc Nation/Sony).
Recently, Sitek co-produced and co-wrote The Neighbourhood’s single “Sadderdaze” (Columbia), produced Weezer’s The Black Album (Crush/Atlantic), Blondie’s “Fun” from their album Pollinator (BMG), New Orleans rapper Pell’s debut label album LIMBO (Federal Prism), and Solange’s “Don’t Touch My Hair” from A Seat at the Table (Columbia). Sitek is currently working on a forthcoming album with his band TV On The Radio and is based in Los Angeles, CA.
